Child Health Institute of New Jersey

The Child Health Institute of New Jersey is a comprehensive biomedical research center dedicated to improving child health through the study of mechanisms underlying children's diseases. The groundbreaking research of the Institute's scientists is integrated with the clinical approaches of pediatric physicians to understand the causes, and improve the therapy and prevention of childhood illness.

The center is a major research initiative in developmental biology and translational research. It is equipped with 40,000sq ft. of lab and office space with additional specialized research capabilities. CHI is also home to our pediatric subspecialty outpatient services.

Bristol-Myers-Squibb Children's Hospital

The Bristol-Myers-Squibb Children's Hospital (BMSCH) at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is a freestanding, 105-bed pediatric acute care children's hospital adjacent to RWJUH.

The hospital provides comprehensive pediatric specialties and subspecialties to infants, children, teens, and young adults aged 0–21 throughout New Jersey and features an ACS verified level II pediatric trauma center. Its regional pediatric intensive-care unit and neonatal intensive care units serve the Central New Jersey region.

In 2019, the hospital opened up a new renovated pediatric emergency department adjacent to the RWJUH adult emergency room. The renovation created a space where pediatric patients aged 0–21 could be separate from adults that require treatment. The renovation added 17 private pediatric patient bays with three dedicated bays for behavioral health and a sensory room for children and adolescents with autism or sensory disorders. 

Children's Specialized Hospital

Children's Specialized Hospital is the largest pediatric healthcare rehabilitation system in the US. This 140 bed facility serves children affected by various conditions including: brain injury, spinal cord dysfunction and injury, premature birth, autism, developmental delays, life-changing illnesses. It also support wide range of research with five core areas of research focus - autism, mobility, cognition, brain injury, and chronic illness. It treats infants, children, teens, and young adults up until the age of 21.

The Eric B. Chandler Health Center strives toward excellence in clinical and support service delivery, using a community-oriented approach to family medicine which incorporates the goals of comprehensive managed care practice, ensuring access to vital primary, preventive, and acute care services. The Center is committed to providing patients with services appropriate to each life cycle in a comprehensive, coordinated, and continuous manner.

EBCHC, a federally qualified and funded health Center, is owned and operated by Robert Wood Johnson Medical School with active leadership of a community board. Located within the Greater New Brunswick area, Eric B. Chandler Health Center plays a key role in meeting the healthcare needs of the community and the clients we serve.

 

Rutgers Medical Group, in Somerset, is another outpatient clinical site. It is the part of a comprehensive academic health care provider in New Jersey, offering a breadth of accessible clinical care throughout the state supported by the latest in medical research and education.
